Η τραγωδία του Αισχύλου «Προμηθέας Δεσμώτης» είναι ένα εκπληκτικό έργο που έχει άμεση σχέση με το σήμερα και την ανθρώπινη ζωή όπως αυτή βιώνεται από το σύγχρονο άνθρωπο στις σύγχρονες κοινωνίες. Δεν είναι μόνο η τιμωρία του Τιτάνα Προμηθέα, που αποφάσισε να βοηθήσει τους ανθρώπους κλέβοντας για χάρη τους τη φωτιά, τους έμαθε το αλφάβητο και τη χρήση των αριθμών. Δεν είναι που το Κράτος και η Βία είναι πρόσωπα του δράματος, όπως ήταν στην αρχαία εποχή. Εδώ έχουμε όλα τα στοιχεία ενός σύγχρονου δράματος. Την καθεστηκυία τάξη, το κατεστημένο, που δεν επιθυμεί καμιά αλλαγή, και τον Άλλο ο οποίος έρχεται όχι μόνο ως φορέας ενός νέου πολιτισμικού στοιχείου, αλλά και ως φορέας της αλλαγής. Η Βία του Δια είναι εμπράγματη· τη βλέπουμε και την αισθανόμαστε γιατί αυτός που βασανίζεται είναι μεν ο Άλλος, άλλα αυτός ο Άλλος είναι τόσο όμοιος με εμάς. Είναι εμείς!

Υπάρχουν και εκείνοι που αν και συμπαθούν τον Προμηθέα δεν μπορούν να το δείξουν, φοβούμενοι το Δια. Φοβούνται την Εξουσία και το Λόγο…

Aeschylus΄ ancient Greek tragedy «Prometheus Bound” is a stunning piece with a direct relationship with Today and human life, as it is experienced by modern man in contemporary societies. It is not just about the Titan´s Prometheus eternal punishment, who stole fire from Olympus for the benefit of humanity against the will of Zeus, and who also taught them the alphabet and the use of numbers. Resemblance to humans and contemporary status is not limited to the State (“Kratos”) and Violence, (“Via”), which are personified in the drama (as was the case in ancient times). We are presented with all the elements of a modern tragedy. On one hand, there is the ruling class, the establishment, that resists any change, and on the other hand, there is the Other who is introducing both a new cultural element and is acting as a vector of substantial change. We can see and feel Violence (the character “Via”), representing the interests of Zeus, as a cruel reality since the one being tortured is the Other, yet this Other is so similar to us. He is us!

There also are also those who sympathise with the tortured Prometheus, but don´t dare to show it because they are afraid of Zeus. They are afraid of the Power and the Logos…
